#100poems: Sixty Six: intervention

We’ve all come together
To tell you
We love you very much
And we’re worried about you
Because, you see
Your cat isn’t real

We don’t know if she was real once
But nobody who knows you can remember a time
When you weren’t pretending.

We know you throw catfood away
When you think nobody’s watching.
We know you go out of the room
And meow.

We know the scratched arm of the sofa
Was done with the wire brush.

And as for the litter box.
What were you thinking?
It’s not even the same smell
And your house has windows.
