#100poems Seventy Three : Dinerama

The Menu is extensive
And wipe clean.
But in reality you can have coffee
Scrambled eggs
And what was once, perhaps a key lime pie
And is certainly still green.
The waitress wears a saucy uniform
And some how calls to mind Miss Havisham
As if, twenty years ago , her date stood her up
And ever since, she’s been here, on her shift .

In fact, that is the case.
